Can I hold my baby right away after the birth? |
|
|
Absolutely! Your baby will be put directly on your chest after the birth and will be assessed right there. Your baby will stay in your arms unless there are unlikely complications, and we will wait to do the complete newborn exam until at least an hour after the birth. We encourage skin-to-skin contact, soft lights, soft voices and family closeness to facilitate bonding and get breastfeeding off to the right start. We will help you in initiating breastfeeding within the first 30 minutes of birth (or whenever your baby is ready!).
