Birthwise Midwifery Service Homebirth Fees

The cost of a home birth with Birthwise Midwifery Service is about 1/4 the cost of a hospital birth. This makes it an affordable option, even for those without insurance. We also offer discounts based on family income to help make it affordable for anyone who wants the type of birth care we provide.

Our Global Fee includes:
  • Prenatal appointments; monthly until 28 weeks, every two weeks from 28 weeks to 36 weeks, home visit at 36 weeks with the birth team, and weekly appointments from 36 weeks until birth.
  • Midwifery care for mother and baby during your labor, birth and immediate postpartum (2-6 hours after birth) with two CPM’s and a student-midwife.
  • Postpartum visits; home visits at 1 day and 3 days postpartum, office visits at one-week, two weeks, and six weeks postpartum.
  • Pap smear at 6 week visit.
  • Midwife on-call availability 24/7 for emergencies and from 37-42 weeks for labor/birth.
  • Use of our resource library.

This fee does not include lab fees, ultrasound costs, disposable birth supplies, herbs, supplements, Rh immunoglobulin for Rh (-) women, water birth tub rental, Newborn Metabolic Screen ($60), or Childbirth Education classes.

Method of Payment:

Clients typically pay out-of-pocket, with many getting the fee reimbursed by their health insurance provider.  We recommend you contact your insurance company for more information on your coverage.  We will provide all necessary paperwork for you to file to your insurance company.

New Hampshire Medicaid pays for our services minus a $300.00 birth assistant fee, for which you would be responsible.

 We cannot accept MaineCare.

We accept checks, cash, credit card via PayPal, New Hampshire Medicaid and some specific pre-arranged barter.

Refunds/Transfer of Care:

If you transfer care before labor, fees will be prorated based upon services provided to date, and a refund will be given as appropriate.  A breakdown of fees is available upon request.  If there is a transport to the hospital during labor, birth, or the immediate postpartum, no refunds will be given.
