Have a Cup of Tea on Me!

This is another “gentle fundraising moment” you can use to raise money for FAM. Below are links for a letter and FAM donation card you can save, print and use. You can take advantage of this letter by using it in its entirety or by changing it to suit your needs.

The letter is meant to be sent to a client after a birth. Attaching your favorite tea bag along with the letter will invite the woman to “have a cup of tea on me” while they think about their experience of birth under your care. It encourages her to support FAM as you do. Please feel free to use this “have a cup of tea on me” letter in your practice at any time. The letter is designed so you can add your own letterhead.

As always, we thank you for your time and dedication to the work of FAM to support the projects that will help midwifery become a household word. Our mission includes the ideas that midwifery is respected, legal, available, accessible, and reimbursable and birth has been returned to women and families and returned to normalcy. The notion of a nation of women enjoying their morning cup of tea in honor of midwifery creates a bountiful and beautiful picture. Thank you for your interest in upholding these valuable ideals.

Sincerely, The FAM Board

News Flash!

The British Medical Journal, in it's June 18, 2005 issue, printed the paper, "Outcomes of planned home births with Certified Professional Midwives: large prospective study in North America." FAM had granted funds which helped this study reach the public! Read the full paper here.

Midwifery—

The evidence is overwhelming and consistent: the midwifery model of care is the most effective maternity care, resulting in fewer interventions, better outcomes statistically and individually, and at a fraction of the cost of the obstetrical model of care. Visit the organizations listed on our Links page to see the evidence. Yet most women in North America either do not know this or do not have access to midwifery care. As a result, birthing women in North America are deprived of safe, high quality, cost-effective, and satisfying birthing options.

We need more education, more research, better maternity care policies, and more midwives!

Many organizations and individuals are working to make this happen. We at the Foundation for the Advancement of Midwifery are applying resources toward these solutions.

Our Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the midwifery model of care as the quality health care option for women and families.
